For many individuals and couples, natural conception isn't straightforward, and that's where assisted reproductive technology can help.
ART is the name given to a group of fertility treatments that help individuals and couples conceive when it hasn’t been possible naturally. It covers a range of approaches, including IVF and ICSI, where eggs and sperm are brought together outside the body, as well as IUI, where prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus, and pathways involving donation or surrogacy.
Dr Rozen has over 10 years of experience managing these fertility treatments, always with the goal of maximising success rates and ensuring the health and wellbeing of both parents and children.
IVF is the most common and well-known form of ART. It involves stimulating the ovaries to produce eggs, retrieving those eggs, fertilising them with sperm in a laboratory, and transferring the resulting embryo into the uterus with the hope of achieving pregnancy.
ICSI is a specialised form of IVF where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg to achieve fertilisation. It is particularly beneficial in cases of male factor infertility, including low sperm count or poor motility, and is used in combination with surgical sperm retrieval techniques such as TESA and TESE.
IUI involves placing sperm directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation to increase the chances of fertilisation. It is a less invasive option than IVF and may be appropriate depending on the underlying cause of infertility and each patient’s individual circumstances.
For individuals and couples where conception is not possible using their own eggs or sperm, donation and surrogacy pathways offer an alternative route to parenthood. Dr Rozen works with patients navigating these options, providing specialist guidance and care throughout the process.
